A wandering minstrel, poet, or entertainer
in medieval England and France.

A jongleur was the medieval predecessor of the court jester. They usually traveled with troubadours and were used to fill in between song sets or if the music was not being well received. They were jack-of-all-trades as far as entertainers go. Comedians, jugglers, story-tellers, they did whatever it took to entertain the crowd.
